01. Manual Lifting Rotary Evaporator.

Advantages

Low cost: Manual lifting rotary evaporator usually does not need motor or electronic control system, so the manufacturing cost is low.

High flexibility: Manual operation allows users to adjust the lifting height and rotation speed at any time as needed to meet different experimental requirements.

Simple maintenance: Because there are no complicated motors and electronic components, the maintenance of manual lifting rotary evaporator is relatively simple.

Disadvantages

Complicated operation: It is necessary to manually adjust the lifting height and rotation speed, which is relatively complicated and may increase the labor intensity of the experimenter.

Limited precision: Manual operation may not achieve accurate lifting height and rotation speed, which affects the accuracy and repeatability of experimental results.

02. Electric Lifting Rotary Evaporator.

Advantages

High degree of automation: The electric lifting rotary evaporator realizes automatic operation through the motor and electronic control system, which reduces the labor intensity of the experimenter.

High precision: The lifting height and rotating speed of the electric lifting rotary evaporator can be accurately controlled by the electronic control system, which improves the accuracy and repeatability of the experimental results.

Programmable control: Some high-end electric lifting rotary evaporators also have programmable control function, which can preset experimental programs and realize one-button operation.

Disadvantages

High cost: The electric lifting rotary evaporator needs complex components such as motor and electronic control system, and the manufacturing cost is high.

03. What is distillation?

Distillation is a thermodynamic separation process, which uses different boiling points of each component in the mixed liquid or liquid-solid system to vaporize and recondense the low-boiling component to separate the entire component unit operation process, which is a combination of evaporation and condensation.

04. How to evaluate the effect of spin steaming?

Evaporation rate:
Monitor the evaporation rate during the whirling process to ensure that it is within the expected range. Too fast evaporation rate may result in solvent spatter or sample loss, while too slow evaporation rate may prolong the experiment time.  

Solvent recovery:
If the purpose of spin distillation is to recover solvents, then the spin effect can be evaluated by measuring the amount of solvent recovered. The solvent recovery amount should be close to or equal to the expected recovery amount.

Sample purity:
For spin-evaporation operations where the purity of the sample needs to be increased, the purity of the sample before and after spin-evaporation can be measured by chromatography, spectroscopy, or other analytical methods. If the purity is improved, it indicates that the rotary steaming effect is good.

Sample residue:
After steaming, observe the sample residue in the collection bottle or flask. If the residual amount is small, and it is mainly a solid sample, it indicates that the rotary steaming effect is good.

Rotary steaming time:
The time required for spin steaming is also an indicator to evaluate the effect of spin steaming. If the spinning time is short and the expected effect can be achieved, it indicates that the spinning efficiency is high, etc.

05. Are hazardous wastes or discharges produced during the short distillation process?

The short-range distillation process does not normally produce large amounts of hazardous waste or emissions. Compared to traditional distillation methods, short-range distillation minimizes waste generation through efficient separation and purification techniques. This is because short-range distillation is usually performed at lower pressures and temperatures, which reduces energy consumption and potential waste generation.
However, this does not mean that short-range distillation is completely pollution-free. During operation, it may be necessary to use cooling water or other cooling media, and some residue or waste liquid may be generated. The disposal of these residues or waste liquids requires compliance with relevant environmental regulations to ensure that there is no adverse impact on the environment.
